History

Halal Center started from the issuance of Law No. 33 of 2014 concerning Halal Product Assurance. Halal Product Assurance itself is considered the responsibility of the government by the state, so the government through the Ministry of Religion formed an agency, namely the Halal Product Assurance Organizing Agency (BPJPH). BPJPH in implementing its program must form an independent institution that can be established by universities or religious organizations, the institution is called the Halal Inspection Institution (LPH).

LPH by the Ministry of Religion can be distributed to competent universities, both general universities and Islamic universities. UIN Alauddin itself was appointed by the Ministry of Religion through BPJPH to establish LPH, because UIN Alauddin is considered competent and capable or has met the requirements based on the Law. LPH established by UIN Alauddin based on Rector's Decree Number 195 of 2018, then in 2022 LPH was in coordination with the Halal Center and was named the Halal Inspection Center. The halal center known as the Alauddin Halal Center is expected to be an institution that can accommodate all activities of the LPH or Halal Inspection Center, the Halal Product Process (PPH) Companion Center and the Supervisory Center.
