Achieving Main Status, LPH UIN Alauddin Makassar is Committed to Providing the Best Service
After undergoing a series of preparations and strict field assessments a few months ago, the efforts were not in vain. As a result, on Wednesday (12/03/2025), a decision letter from the Halal Product Assurance Organizing Body (BPJPH) was issued, stating that the Halal Inspection Agency (LPH) UIN Alauddin Makassar is eligible to achieve the main status, as outlined in the decision letter number: A0106/TIM-AK/LPH-LHLN/RK.02.01/03/2025. This decision letter is valid from March 12, 2025, to March 12, 2029.
With this new status, LPH UIN Alauddin Makassar is now the 21st LPH, along with LPH Unhas, to achieve the main status among the 84 LPHs in Indonesia.
The change of status from Pratama to Utama now enables LPH UIN Alauddin Makassar to provide halal certification services on a national and international scale with a wider scope of inspections, covering all goods and services. In the goods sector, this includes: food, beverages, pharmaceuticals, cosmetics, chemical products, biological products, genetically modified products, and consumer goods. In the services sector, this includes: slaughtering services, processing, storage, packaging, distribution, sales, and presentation.
With this achievement, the Head of LPH UIN Alauddin Makassar, Dr. Cut Muthiadin, M.Si, expressed immense gratitude and thanked all parties for their support, assistance, guidance, and direction, starting from the BPJPH assessor team, university leadership, and all personnel of the LPH UIN Alauddin Makassar team who have worked hard for this achievement. He expressed his commitment, stating that with this new status, the LPH he leads is ready to make an even greater contribution to the effort of creating a halal ecosystem and providing maximum, professional, and high-quality services to the public, especially to business actors.
"With this change of status, the scope of work for LPH has expanded. Previously, when we were still in Pratama status, our work coverage was limited to South Sulawesi, but with this change, our work coverage now extends nationally and even internationally," he stated.
A lecturer in the Biology Department at the Faculty of Science and Technology, UIN Alauddin, also added that with this change of status, the scope of inspection has also expanded. Previously, it only covered food, beverages, pharmaceuticals, and slaughtering services. Now, with this change, the inspection coverage has also expanded to include cosmetics, chemical products, biological products, genetically modified products, and consumer goods. In the services sector, what was previously limited to slaughtering services is now expanded to include processing, storage, packaging, distribution, sales, and presentation services.
With the support of 15 halal auditors certified by BNSP with a variety of areas of expertise, and 4 qualified Human Resources in Islamic Sharia, LPH UIN Alauddin Makassar is now ready to spread its wings and soar further in providing the best services to the community. (DRH)
