Following up on the circular letter of the South Sulawesi Province Halal Task Force Number; B-7946/Kw/21.6/BA.00/10/20 dated October 8, 2024 concerning the socialization of mandatory halal in October. The Halal Inspection Institute (LPH) of UIN Alauddin Makassar together with the South Sulawesi Province halal task force team socialized mandatory halal (WHO), at Phinisi Point Makassar, Friday (18/10/2024).
In the socialization activity, representatives of LPH UIN Alauddin Makassar were attended directly by the Chairperson of LPH, Mrs. Dr. Cut Muthiadin, M.Si along with several administrators of the institution and several members of its halal auditors. In the activity, together with the South Sulawesi Province halal task force team which was attended directly by the Chairperson, Secretary and Members of the Halal Task Force, targeting medium to large business actors. LPH UIN together with the halal task force team conducted socialization and education about the importance of halal certification, while on that occasion, the first warning and reprimand was given to business actors who did not have and take care of halal certificates for their products or businesses.
This socialization activity is a direct instruction from the Halal Product Guarantee Organizing Agency (BPJPH) of the Indonesian Ministry of Religion to be carried out simultaneously throughout Indonesia on Friday, October 18, 2024, which is commanded by each Task Force in the region by involving each LPH and LP3H in the region.
As has been socialized long before that October 17, 2024 is the last day of the first stage of the obligation to have halal certification, then October 18 is the first day of the implementation of the obligation to have halal certification for products entering, circulating and being traded in the territory of Indonesia, as mandated in Law No. 33 of 2014 concerning Halal Product Assurance.
In this first step, there are 3 groups of products that must be halal certified, namely; First, food and beverage products; Second, raw materials, food additives, and auxiliary materials for food and beverage products; and Third, slaughtered products and slaughtering services.
In addition to the Phinisi Point Mall. In Makassar City itself, socialization activities on the first day of the implementation of the halal certification obligation were centered in several locations. The location of this socialization based on the results of coordination with the South Sulawesi Province Halal Task Force was centered in modern shopping centers (Malls) in Makassar. Among them, Phinisi Point Makassar Mall, Panakukang Mall, Trans Studio Mall, Makassar Town Square, Ratu Indah Mall and several other shopping centers. (DRH)
