Makassar, November 4, 2025 — The Halal Inspection Institute (LPH) of UIN Alauddin Makassar once again demonstrated its commitment to strengthening the national halal industry ecosystem by actively participating in the Focus Group Discussion (FGD) "Identifying the Implementation of Halal Standards in Halal Logistics Services," organized by the National Committee for Sharia Economics and Finance (KNEKS) in collaboration with the Indonesian Logistics Association (ALI).

This event took place in the Ollon Hall, State Finance Building I, Makassar, on Tuesday, November 4, 2025, and featured several key speakers, including: the Executive Director of KDEKS South Sulawesi, the Director of LPPOM South Sulawesi, the Chair of LPH Hasanuddin University Makassar, the Chair of LPH UIN Alauddin Makassar, the Chair of the South Sulawesi Halal Task Force, the Indonesian Ministry of Religious Affairs, and the Halal Product Assurance Organizing Agency (BPJPH) as a respondent.

Encouraging the Implementation of Halal Standards in the Logistics Sector

This Focus Group Discussion (FGD) aimed to identify the application of halal standards in halal logistics services, including storage, packaging, and distribution. This activity served as a strategic forum for building a common understanding and model for implementing integrated halal standards in the logistics sector. The FGD opened with a presentation by Mr. Binsar Agung Hartanto from the National Committee for Islamic Economics and Finance (KNEKS). He stated that halal logistics must be viewed as part of an economic ecosystem, where every element supports the development of the Islamic economy.

During the presentation, the Head of the Halal Certification Body (LPH) of UIN Alauddin Makassar, Dr. Cut Muthiadin, MSi, emphasized the importance of synergy between halal inspection institutions and logistics industry players to ensure the halalness of products throughout the supply chain.

"Logistics services play a vital role in the downstream sector in ensuring the halal status of products, from storage and packaging to distribution. The Halal Certification Institution (LPH) plays a crucial role in ensuring that all processes comply with Sharia principles and applicable halal standards," said the Head of LPH UIN Alauddin Makassar in his presentation. He also added that the scope of LPH UIN Alauddin's inspection services covers all goods and services. Currently, it has handled logistics service applications from several business actors, and is expected to contribute actively to meeting the standards for halal products from upstream to downstream with traceability standards. He also added that activities like this are an important momentum to strengthen collaboration between government agencies, academics, and halal industry players to accelerate the growth of the national halal supply chain.

Synergy Towards a Strong Halal Ecosystem
The event, which took place from 1:30 PM to 5:00 PM WITA (Central Indonesian Time), concluded with an interactive discussion session and a joint conclusion. Participants agreed that the standardization of halal logistics services needs to be continuously strengthened through regulations, audit systems, and human resource capacity building.

The participation of LPH UIN Alauddin Makassar in this event represents the institution's concrete contribution to supporting the national program to strengthen the halal industry and demonstrates the university's role in research and halal product assurance services.
